FAQ
1. What curriculum do you use at Spring Hill Academy and how does that benefit my child's specific needs at their current age group?
Spring Hill Academy currently uses the Frog Street Curriculum in our Infant Program and the STREAMin3 curriculum, vetted by the Virginia Department of Education in our Toddlers, Preschool, and Pre-K programs in order to provide each child with the aptitude for school-readiness using the best parts of each program to promote life-long learning!
2. What is the current tuition for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, etc.?
Spring Hill Academy understands that parents want the best for their child within their means and limits. That's why Spring Hill has competitive tuition rates in the Alexandria, VA area with affordable options, such as military/law enforcement discounts, FCPS teacher discounts, and family discounts, in addition to part-time and full-time programs to allow all families to find an option that works for you and your family! Spring Hill Academy is also a part of Child Care Aware to further provide options for your family’s needs.
All tuition rates come with meals and snacks included in your weekly rate and provides your child with valuable skills and knowledge using our highly respected curricula and philosophies, taught by our passionate and dedicated teachers!

3. What is your snow/inclement weather procedure?
When deciding on whether to close/delay opening, Spring Hill Academy decides based on the directives of the federal government (www.opm.gov). Our primary concern will always be for the safety and security of the children and our staff – if Spring Hill Academy feels that the center needs to close/delay opening/close early due to weather and/or any other safety/security concerns that is inconsistent with OPM’s directive, we will notify parents as soon as possible with potential updates, if necessary.
Our main method of communication during emergency closures and inclement weather is through email, Procare message, and our website.
For inclement weather, families may also check WTOP for any updates.
4. How do I enroll my child in your center?
Thank you for your interest in Spring Hill Academy! We are happy to provide you and your family with a quality child care service that promotes life-long learning in a happy, safe, and secure environment.
Please complete an Enrollment Form and either drop it off at the center or email it to admin@iamspringhill.com with the respective Registration Fee. Please note that dependent on availability, families may be asked to join a waitlist which moves on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are looking to tour the center, please schedule a tour with a Spring Hill team member!
5. My family is planning a vacation so we will need to remove our child from classes for a short period of time - what is the procedure/policy?
Unfortunately, Spring Hill Academy does not reimburse or adjust tuition rates for vacations, absences due to sickness/illness, inclement weather, or other absences from the center. In order to reserve your child’s spot in the classroom, parents would need to have continuous, uninterrupted tuition payments.
Parents may always contact a member of Spring Hill Academy’s administrative team in order to discuss vacations/extended absences/etc. for more specific information!
6. How do I withdraw my child from their current program?
Spring Hill requires written confirmation (may be received via email, written letter, or fax) 2 weeks prior to the child’s last day at the center. Parents are responsible for all residual payments, balances, or fees associated with the account at the time of termination of enrollment. If all accounts are in good-standing, your security deposit placed at the time of registration will be applied to your last two weeks’ tuition. Any excess funds available on the parent’s account will be reimbursed to the parent via check.
7. How many meals will my child eat at the center and are all meals and snacks included in my tuition rate?
All meals and snacks are provided by Spring Hill Academy through a catering service and are included in the tuition rate. Spring Hill strongly promotes healthy snacks and meals and will follow a USDA-approved menu. Spring Hill also serves hot meals as part of our lunch menu! Children enrolled from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM will be provided with an AM snack, lunch, and a PM snack. Children enrolled in a half-day program will receive AM snack and lunch. Children enrolled in Before and After Care Programs will receive AM snack and PM snack. Due to our participation through a catering service, however, we are unable to accommodate to specific allergies or conflicting dietary needs. Spring Hill remains a nut-free facility but if your child has other allergies or is adverse to any items on the menu, you may provide your child’s food for that particular meal or day if it does not accommodate to your child’s needs.
You can view the current month’s menu online at Monthly Menu.
8. What if my child has a peanut (or other food-based) allergy?
Spring Hill Academy is a proud nut-free facility – including all tree nuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, etc. Our menus will never feature food items that contain nuts or items processed/produced in a facility that also processes nuts.
Children with other allergies (dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, etc.) may have lunch or snacks provided from home, as long as all meals/snacks are nut-free and not considered a choking hazard (whole grapes, whole blueberries, popcorn, cherry tomatoes, etc.). Parents may opt for some meals/items to be provided from home and some meals/items to be school-provided. Please see the front desk for more details.
For birthdays, holiday events, or field trips, parents may bring a small treat to be shared with the class but must check with their student’s teacher for other allergies that may apply to their classroom.
